I love the Edifier sound. I have 3 sets of speakers from them. I bought these headphones as an upgrade to my $20 budget pair that got destroyed by the dog.
The sound is very hollow and not filling or warm, which is what I usually associate with Edifier. They cannot get loud enough when paired with my iphone, but even when paired with my computer and ran through an EQ, the sound still sounds distant and very apparent that I am wearing headphones. They are not immersive, my 1st generation AirPods provide more than 2x the sound quality and immersion in my opinion.
Pairing was easy, but every time I want to switch them I have to turn them on and hold into pairing mode, instead of just selecting from the device (that has already been paired) to use them. My budget headphones could easily swap pairings between devices.
When turning the sound cancelling on, off, or to ambient this incredibly loud and annoying voice screams in my ears NOISE REDUCTION OFF! NOISE REDUCTION ON! ABMIENT SOUND!
These unreasonably loud announcements are paired with a long pause in the music. It is very jarring and frustrating.
Once again, my budget pair of headphones would just switch modes when the button was pressed.
It is hard to feel the plus, power, minus buttons on the headset. The dimple that is used for the minus is hard to feel and causes me to fumble to find the correct button.
Sound cancellation is okay, not great.
Overall, even though these are less expensive ( < $100 ) than more professional models ( > $200 ), I don't think they are any better than my previous $20 budget pair of headphones, and with the annoyances, possibly worse.
I'm quite sad and disappointed about this purchase.
From my personal experience it seems that Edifier produces great products in the mid-range, but their budget products are of low quality.
Messily shipped, earphones minorly scratched within their broken box, sound quality was average, and it was overpriced for being direct from the company. Only upside is they're genuinely comfortable to wear for long periods.
